Solar Eclipse

Well on August 21, 2017 there was a total solar eclipse in the United States. Where we live it was only about 90% eclipsed but it was still pretty cool. The weather was really nice and the day did get darker. I used to have some eclipse glasses from the last eclipse in 2012 but I could no longer find them but we watched the eclipse through a pin hole in some foil. Wyatt had great fun pointing to the shadow and pointing out the moon. Spencer only wanted to play outside.

Wyatt is 3... My how time flies!

Wyatt turned 3 years old this week. He is 38 1/2 inches tall and weighs 28 lbs. He is starting to talk in full sentences now and has a great imagination! He loves Paw Patrol and Super Heroes and police cars, fire engines, and helicopters. Most of the time he loves playing with Spencer and loves to play with other kids around his age.

We celebrated his birthday with family at our house. Thanks for all who could come. Here are some of the pictures.

In case you are wondering, those are the Paw Patrol dogs on his cake.

He got a small trampoline from Mamu and Papu.

He got the Hi Ho Cherri-O game from Uncle Ryan and Aunt Emerald

He got Lego Batman Sets from Grandma and Grandpa Scott

He got a foam shooter plane from Grandma and Grandpa Scott

He got a jumping Monster Truck from Aunt Emilee, Uncle Steve, and Amulek

Anderson Family Reunion 2017

This year we decided to get together out west in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was hot but we had fun anyways! Its always great to get together and make memories. Here are the highlights of our trip:

SATURDAY:
We got to Las Vegas earlier than expected (Liz forgot about the time change when making plans on when to leave... Oops). But that's okay, we just spent time at the park until it was time to check in at the house we rented.

Spencer Loved going down the big slide and would go down all by himself, always going down backwards though.

Once we got settled in the house and had dinner, we all headed over to Fremont Street to the Fremont Experience. The boys even got to see a transformer

Other than that, we weren't all that impressed with the Fremont Experience. There wasn't much for us to do except buy souvenir because it was basically a bunch of casinos all in one place, and we don't gamble.

SUNDAY:
We went to church with our cousins who live down in Vegas, Rachel and Dave Speldos and Heather Anderson. We don't have a lot of Pictures from this day but we basically just swam in the pool and played games together. Mamu and Papu even jumped into the pool in their church clothes.

Wyatt also got a birthday present from Mamu and Papu.

MONDAY:

This was a very fun day. We rented a boat and spent the whole day jetting around Lake Mead. We had lots of fun and got do do lots of swimming around, tubing, and everyone who tried eventually got up on the wake board.

My Dad was really tired after his tubing experience but he stayed on.

The kids all liked hanging out on the boat as well. Although they weren't too sure about the life jackets at first.

We stopped in a little inlet to go swimming and this was the hill people where climbing.

We also stopped in "the narrows" to have lunch.

After Lunch it was wake boarding time. Stephanie was first up.

Even Wyatt got to drive the boat!

Everyone was really exhausted by the end of the day.

TUESDAY:

We Split up this day. The older boys went Kayaking and the Girls and kids went to the Dolphin Habitat and Siegfried and Roy Secret Garden at the Mirage.

After Dinner that night, we all went to the Adventure dome in the Circus Circus Hotel.

WEDNESDAY:

Christina and Jared left early on this day. So we had a pretty relaxing day. We went to the Titanic Artifact Exhibit in the Luxor Hotel or some of the boys went to Top Golf in the MGM Hotel. Then we all went to the Pin-Ball Hall of Fame and walked along part of the downtown strip.

Sorry We weren't allowed to take pictures inside of the exhibit but it was really cool. The went through the entire history of the Titanic, including the making of it and the captain. Then they had you walk through what a 3rd class cabin would have looked like and the a 2nd and a 1st. Then they went through what happened the night it went down, they even had an iceberg that you could touch. Then at the end the had a wall of all the survivors and all the people who didn't make it off the ship. At the beginning they gave everyone a name of a passenger and at the end you could find that person to see if they survived. All the girls survived but the boys all died in our group.

Wyatt was tired and fell asleep in the car so he slept through the first half of playing the arcade games.

Jeff's favorite game there.

.

Wyatt did eventually wake up and got to play some games.

We had lunch on the strip so we got to walk around some of the shops.

That night we went to see the Bellagio Fountain.

These were the chandeliers inside the Casino where we parked that night.

The Excalibur Hotel.

Wyatt even got to meet Spider man.

Sorry the files are too big to put on here but we did get some videos of the fountain.

THURSDAY:

We left Las Vegas Thursday. We decided on our way home to Utah that we would stop at Zions National Park because none of us had ever been there. We did one easy hike (because anything else was pushing the boys). We did the lower Emerald Pools hike and then got some ice cream afterwards.

We saw some wild life on the trail. We saw some squirrels, birds, and this lizard. There was a baby rattle snake on the side of the trail but we didn't see it. We also saw a giant beetle.

Wyatt Loved climbing up the rocks and sliding back down.

There wasn't much water coming down over the falls while we were there (considering we were going in August I was just glad there was water coming down at all). Wyatt still loved walking under the water though. He thought it was the best and did it at least four times.

After the hike and Ice Cream we drove to Dixie National Forest where we camped for the night. The drive through Zions Canyon was really pretty.

FRIDAY:

Friday was spent at the campground where we were staying and driving back home. On the way home we drove through where the Brian Head fire was this summer and got to see all the damage that it did.

The boys loved playing in the water and mud.

Here is our drive home.

When we got home Wyatt set up his trampoline that he got for his birthday from Mamu and Papu.

Overall we had a fantastic time and made lots of fun memories together.
