Baby Boy #2 is Born

For those who don't know, my birthday is June 16th. So Wyatt and I spent that day doing things that I wanted to do, such as going to the Splash Pad, playing in the park, getting free smoothies, and having fun. We also went out to eat for dinner that night at Cracker Barrel. It was right after we got home from dinner that I started having consistent contractions. I had been having them off and on for about 2 weeks but that night when I timed them, they were coming every 8 minutes about. I think it was around 7 pm that I started timing them. Since it was my birthday, We skyped with my family so they could wish me a happy birthday. Through the whole conversation I was having contractions and they continued afterwards till I finally felt certain that I was in labor and went to the hospital.

I "woke" (I am not sure if he was actually sleeping or not) Jeff up around 11:30 pm and we started getting everything packed to go to the hospital. I already had most of it packed but I had to add the things I use everyday and we had to make sure we had everything we needed for Wyatt. We packed up the car and left. We checked in at the ER of the hospital, since it was after hours, at 12:30 AM. I remember looking at the clock for this time so I could get it right.

We were then taken upstairs to labor and delivery. When they checked my cervix at first I was somewhere between a 4 and 5. Since I was B Strep positive, the nurse said e needed to start the IV right away so I could get the antibiotics into my system before my water broke. This time the nurse was able to get the IV into my vein in one try. Thank Heavens! They also called my doctor and had him come in.

This whole time we had Wyatt at the hospital and he was pretty good. He just laid on the couch with his blanket and a pillow. At some point he fell asleep and then the nurse came in and he woke up. Then he was super hyper and jumping all over the place. At that point we called Jeff's parents to come and get him.

The doctor got to the hospital and broke my water around 2:15 AM. I hadn't gotten my epidural yet but the IV and antibiotics were in my system. I got my epidural around 2:45 AM. At that point I was dilated to a 7. Jeff's parents got to the hospital to pick Wyatt up around 3 AM. Jeff and I then got an hour power nap.

Around 4:15 AM I was feeling like it was time to push. So the nurse woke up the doctor and got everything ready. I believe I pushed through 3 or 4 contractions and Spencer Otto Scott was born at 4:41 AM on June 17th, 2016.

He had the cord wrapped around his neck but not as badly as Wyatt so Jeff got to cut the umbilical cord this time. Spencer was 21 inches long and weighed 7 lbs 6 oz. We was the same length as Wyatt but 5 oz lighter. He had really dark brown hair when he was born.

Since it was about shift change, we weren't moved to the maternity floor until almost 7:30 AM. So Jeff and I didn't get to sleep until around 9 AM after we ate breakfast. Then we slept most of the day away, and thankfully Spencer did also.

We did have visitors that day though. Grandma and Grandpa Scott came and brought Wyatt to meet his little brother. Wyatt loved him right away. All he wanted to do was hold the baby and didn't want to give anyone else a turn. Don't worry, we did eventually get him to give both grandma and grandpa a turn holding the baby.

We slept really well that first night at the hospital as well. The nurses didn't even wake us up to take vitals or anything which was really really nice. The next day Spencer had his circumcision and all his other testing. Then we were discharged from the hospital around 3:30 PM and went home.

This is Spencer when we got home from the hospital. He is laying on the Ninja Turtle floor blanket that Grandma Scott made for him.

First Family picture after Spencer is born. Don't worry, Wyatt is just mad that he didn't get to hold the baby.
